GILBERT IS RUGBY: LINDSAY'S STORY

Cumbernauld's first female VP, Lindsay also runs the fixtures as well as the team dinner. Coming from a non-rugby playing family, she found Cumbernauld when her son started to play, with the club giving her purpose, and finding a new love within Rugby.

CUMBERNAULD RFC
Cumbernauld Rugby Football Club (CRFC) was founded in May 1970 when a group of fellow enthusiasts met to discuss forming a club. Original members were: John Colletta, Jim Calder, Ian, Calder, Dave Biggin and Paul McCready (deceased). Training started in the summer of 1970 and the first game against a Cambuslang fifteen was played on September 12th 1970, Cumbernauld running out eventual winners by 13 points to 3, and so the club was born. The momentum continued and the club went from strength to strength and was fielding 3 XV's by the beginning of the next season. Youth and Mini sections soon followed.
