It's one of our favourite times of the year, the Guinness Six Nations!
The first round was far from disappointing. Scotland secured the Calcutta Cup, Ireland came out victorious over Wales and France, scored their first win against Italy. However, they weren't alone on the pitch, they were joined by the revolutionary Smart ball! You can read more in-depth about the making of the ball here.
However, you may be asking, what's the difference between the smart ball and one of our match balls?
Working with our partners at Sportable, the smart rugby ball offers instant 3D tracking and trajectories at cm level accuracy. This is called the Skill Tracker. This state-of-the-art performance technology allows players, coaches and fans to view all the data behind aspects such as kicking, passing, throwing, tackling and scrummaging.
This will also give teams the opportunity to analyse their performance and develop, ready for their next round. This technology is going to prove valuable for every involved and really help us analyse the amazing game we know and love. Keep an eye out for the Smart ball this tournament!
Whilst the smart ball is available to buy just yet, we do have a fantastic range of Guinness Six Nations Match, Supporter and Replica balls ready to take home. You can shop the mini, midi and Size 5s here.
