In this edition, we shine a spotlight on France’s rising star, Charlotte Escudero. From playing with the boys as a child to representing her country on home turf, Charlotte’s journey is full of powerful lessons.

Read along as she shares her favourite rugby memories and advice for young players starting out – reminding us all why rugby is more than just a game.

1.        A special debut

From an early age, Charlotte knew rugby had her name written all over it. She was one of the few girls playing alongside boys and quickly realised it was the sport for her.

September2022 marked a pivotal moment in her career when Charlotte earned her first cap for France. What made it truly unforgettable was the fact that the game was in Nice, just a stone’s throw from home, and therefore her parents could cheer her on from the stands. Sharing that debut with family remains her most memorable rugby moment to date.

2.        Charlotte’s Top Tips for performance

Keeping it short and sweet, here are the three pillars Charlotte swears by for a good performance on the pitch:

·      Quality sleep – it’s essential for recovery.

·      Thorough physical preparation – drills, gym, conditioning, the works.

·      Good nutrition – a balanced meal fuels body and mind.

It’s a straightforward formula, but it's what keeps her performing at her best.
