The Rise of the Roses.
Five years ago, the Whitley Bay Roses didn't exist. Today, they are one of the most successful grassroots women's rugby stories in the North East. We sat down with the players and founders just outside Newcastle to learn the blueprint for starting a women’s rugby team from scratch. From the first training session to watching the next generation graduate into the 1st XV, this is how you build a seaside rugby powerhouse.
A seaside town, with a rich history of being a local rugby club, just 25 minutes outside of Newcastle, sits one of the most thriving women's sections in the North East of England, which only 5 years ago didn't exist. We explore and meet 5 individuals involved in the rugby club, the rise and creation of it, and how it did it.

We also meet 3 of the young women players who have come through the age groups and have now graduated into the 1st XV, their aspirations and learn about a fantastic thriving community rugby club.
