The Japan RFU and Gilbert are pleased to announce a new partnership which will see Gilbert become the Official Ball of Japanese Rugby.
Under this partnership Gilbert will supply all Japanese national teams and the major competitions including the JRFU Top league, the JRFU Championship and both the University and Technical College tournaments.
Mr. Tatsuzo Yabe, a chairman of the Japan Rugby Football Union, said “the JRFU would like to announce that the Gilbert ball will be supplied for Japan National Rugby Teams and the JRFU major competitions as the official match ball. The Gilbert ball, which is also the official match ball of many international major rugby competitions notably the Rugby World Cup, will also be used by the Japan National Rugby Teams as they compete around the world, further strengthening the Japan Rugby Football Union and its national teams.”
Richard Gray, Gilbert Sales and Marketing Director, said “We have long been friends with the JRFU and are therefore delighted to enter into a formal relationship. Our aim is to support rugby in Japan at all levels and to assist the JRFU as they build towards hosting the Rugby World Cup in 2019.”
Gilbert supply match balls to the majority of the world's top competitions and nations including: Rugby World Cup 2015, Aviva Premiership, Top 14, Super Rugby, Asian 5 Nations, Argentina, Australia, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, South Africa and Wales.
