Gilbert Rugby are thrilled to welcome Dylan Hartley on board as a brand ambassador, where he joins fellow International hooker, Richard Hibbard as part of #TeamGilbert
Dylan is the latest signing in a stable comprising many International stars and comes alongside the announcement that Richard Hibbard has chosen to extend his deal as a Gilbert Brand Ambassador for the rest of his playing career.
Following the recent release of the new MATCH-XV match ball and with the Aviva Premiership Rugby season kicking off on Friday, the double announcement of signing arguably the best two hookers in the league as Brand Ambassadors further strengthens Gilbert’s reputation as the number 1 brand in World Rugby. The first match of the new Aviva Premiership Rugby season kicks off with the MATCH-XV on Friday and will see Dylan and his Northampton Saints team take on Hibbard and his new team mates at Gloucester.
Dylan Hartley commented “I’m delighted to have signed up as part of Team Gilbert and I’m looking forward to working closely with the team at Gilbert to help develop an exciting range for 2015.
Gilbert is the leading ball in World Rugby and their heritage and knowledge of the game is unrivalled. Looking ahead to the Rugby World Cup next year, I’m delighted that we will be using a Gilbert ball throughout the tournament and cannot wait to get my hands on it on Friday night.
Whilst Dylan is very much the new boy at #TeamGilbert
the relationship with Richard Hibbard now stretches to over 6 years; in that time all at Gilbert have seen ‘Hibbz’ grow from being 2nd or 3rd choice at the Ospreys to making 31 appearances for Wales, well over 150 for the Ospreys and tasting success on tour with the British and Irish Lions in 2013.
The new season sees Richard joining Dylan in the Aviva Premiership with Gloucester, a challenge that he is relishing: “I cannot wait to get started! The Aviva Premiership is seen by many to be the toughest league in the world, me included.”
Looking ahead to his first taste of Aviva Premiership Rugby, against the defending Champions Northampton Saints at Franklins Gardens, Hibbard commented: “The defending champions on their home patch, it doesn’t come much harder than that! On a personal note, the prospect of lining up opposite Dylan is one I’m really looking forward to. We may now both be part of team Gilbert but I’m sure we’ll put that to one side when we’re facing off on Friday night!
Richard Gray, Sales and Marketing Director of Gilbert Rugby added “It is great to welcome Dylan to the Gilbert team, alongside Richard, at such an exciting time for Gilbert in the lead up to Rugby World Cup. He follows in the footsteps of Steve Thompson, the last Saints and England Hooker to promote Gilbert, (with some success!) at the 2003 Rugby World Cup. We wish them both well for Friday night and look forward to working with them in the run up to, and beyond, RWC 2015.”
