26th February 2021 becomes a landmark day as the official match schedule for Rugby World Cup 2023 is announced.
2023 tournament hosts France will host the acclaimed All Blacks in the opening match, on 8th September 2023 in Paris.
Rugby World Cup 2023 promises to be a truly spectacular tournament showcasing the very best of France. Each host city will host a minimum of four matches, each welcoming at least one RWC 2019 quarter-finalist along the way.
The expanded eight-week festival of rugby and France could not get off to a bigger start as with hosts France taking on old RWC rivals New Zealand to kick-off the bicentenary celebrations of Rugby, as we celebrate 200 years of our beloved sport in style.
One particular highlight we have picked out of a thrilling opening weekend is a double-header in Marseille. RWC 2019 runners-up England launch their Pool D campaign against Argentina on the first Saturday, with their RWC 2019 conquerors in Japan, South Africa, kicking off their title defence against Scotland the following day.
Rugby World Cup 2023 will be a truly nationwide tournament involving all of France. Each host city will host a minimum of four games and welcome at least one RWC 2019 quarter-finalist, reinforcing its commitment to unite the whole country through rugby fever.

As announced earlier in February 2021, Rugby World Cup 2023 will see an extended tournament and for the first time in the tournament’s history, all teams will enjoy a minimum of five rest days between all matches and an increased squad size of 33 players; optimising recovery and preparation and improving on-field performances. RWC 2023 TOURNAMENT TICKETING DETAILS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON 4 MARCH.
The Rugby World Cup 2023 ticketing programme will launch in March 2021 as the first tickets for Rugby's showcase competition will go on sale. A virtual press conference held by Alan Gilpin (Head of Rugby World Cup) and Claude Atcher (France 2023 CEO) will be organised on 4 March, 2021 at 08:00 GMT to present all details.
