Dusautoir named IRB Player of the Year!

Following on from his Man of the Match award in the Rugby World Cup 2011 Final, Gilbert Ambassador Thierry Dusautoir was, last week, named as the IRB Player of Year. A fantastic achievement.
2011 has undoubtedly been a turbulent year for Thierry, he was the captain of the French side beaten for the first time by Italy during the second game of the 6 Nations, but with his leadership they recovered to finish 2nd overall. Six months on, against all odds, Thierry led his French team to a Rugby World Cup Final.
With some indifferent performances during the pool stages, France never looked like progressing in the knockout stages of RWC2011. However, Thierry led his countrymen with great determination and put his heart and soul into every performance throughout the tournament, culminating in a near perfect Man of the Match performance in the Final. Thierry carried like a man possessed and tackled anything that moved, his performance topped off with a great try under the posts to draw his team to within a point. Sadly for him, and for France, they couldn’t quite complete a stunning performance by lifting the William Webb Ellis trophy at the end.
Thierry was duly named Man of the Match in that Final, and just days later was also confirmed as the IRB Player of the Year for 2011.
Congratulations Thierry, from all at Gilbert Rugby!
Allez les Bleus.
