Gilbert's journery to the RWC...
Date posted: 14/04/2011
As reported a few weeks ago, Tom Hudson and Jodie Burton are on a huge marathon journey to the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, stopping off along the way at some of the way to visit schools, clubs, players and fans of the sport, telling the story of rugby union in 28 countries across the globe. They are raising money for two charities, one in the UK, and one International. The UK charity is Rays of Sunshine, a UK children’s charity which turns dreams and wishes into happy memories for children with serious and life threatening illnesses. The International charity is the TAG Rugby Trust who coordinate community projects globally, to spread the game of rugby to some of the most remote places in the World.
They have recently journeyed down south to Phnom Penh. The temperature difference between North Laos and South Cambodia meant it warmed up by over 20 degrees in a few days, along the way they managed to distract a few monks into learning rugby in the Pakse temple.
They are due to film for 2 tv channels in Bangkok, one is Total Rugby so a good distribution, and the history of Gilbert going to NZ will be quite integral.
Good luck with the rest of the journey!
